Two decades of brand strategy.
Now available to the businesses that need it most.
I'm Amy Jackson: creative director, award-winning designer, color nerd, and an unapologetic brand evangelist. I’m also the founder of amyJDesigns and Brand Is Not A 4-letter Word. I built my career helping high-growth companies and mission-driven nonprofits figure out who they were and how to show up. Now I do that work for small businesses and founders.
Most recently, I spent 18 years at a B2B tech company, working from sole designer to SVP, Marketing. I led rebrands, built creative teams, launched products, and helped a 20-year-old company find its identity again after rapid growth had stretched it beyond recognition. Before this, I was a non-profit gal who designed the brand stories of mission-driven organizations.
The work I found most meaningful was always the same: helping an organization finally understand who it was, what it stood for, and how to connect with its people.
That work used to require a big agency or an in-house team. I wanted to make it available to the small business owner who's been running on instinct and a logo they're not sure about, the startup founder who's brilliant but keeps stumbling over the details, or the nonprofit organization who needs funders to feel the mission…not just read about it.

What to expect from me…
Honesty over flattery. I'll tell you what I see in your brand…the things that are working and the things that aren't. That honesty is what makes the work valuable.
Strategy before aesthetics. Every visual decision starts with a strategic one. We don't pick colors because they're pretty. We pick them because they mean something to the right people.
Clarity over jargon. Brand strategy has a lot of fancy words. I'll use plain ones. You shouldn't need a glossary to understand your own brand.
Your input, your brand. I bring the expertise; you bring the knowledge of your business that no one else has. The best brand work happens when those two things are genuinely in conversation.
